Approximately three dozen kinds of a spider species commonly known as the trapdoor spider have been identified. And because three of them were found at the Joshua Tree National Park in California, one of the three is being named after U2 singer Bono.

According to The Press-Enterprise, A. bonoi was named after the U2 singer as a way to honor both him and the band’s 1987 studio album The Joshua Tree. According to taxonomist Jason Bond of the Auburn University Museum of Natural History in Alabama, 33 new species of the genus “Aptostichus” were discovered. 2012 did not end as planned for Frank Ocean, who was pulled over New Year’s Eve and cited for possession of marijuana in California.

In a statement erroneously calling Ocean a “rap artist,” Mono County Sherriff’s Office released the following: “On Monday, December 31, 2012, at approximately 4:30pm, a Mono County Deputy Sheriff, with the assistance of a California Highway Patrol Officer, observed a black BMW traveling at a high rate of speed, southbound on US Hwy 395.

“The vehicle was stopped by the Deputy. As the Deputy approached the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana came from inside the car. Christopher Breaux, aka Frank Ocean, age 25, of Beverly Hills, CA, had a small bag of marijuana on his person. Mr. Breaux was cited for possession of marijuana and released.”

Ocean declined to comment via his representative.
